This course is administered by IU Human Resources.
Leadership Essentials is designed to clarify the basic responsibilities of People Leaders at Indiana University. It will define a leader's role in fostering team culture, embodying IU’s values, and driving team performance in support of IU’s mission. This training is required for all IU staff whose role is classified as a People Leader within the IU Job Framework (PAL and PAX salary designations).
Upon successful completion of this series, you will be able to:
- Identify what teams need from their leaders.
- Describe the seven (7) behavioral expectations of leaders at Indiana University.
- Build relationships with your team to increase employee engagement.
- Check in frequently with your team to increase accountability.
- Identify preventive solutions for stress and burnout collaboratively with employees.
- Engage in development and annual conversations with employees.
- Apply the Change at IU framework and supporting tools during change initiatives.
This training should take 3 hours to complete, though timing will vary.
