Full course description

Enrollment Note:

This module is created for individual learners. A separate learning option for school boards who are learning together in a group setting is also available.

Course Introduction

Module two is all about living within our means. The basis of this module is how to better understand what our expenditures are and to use that information to strategically plan our expenditures. There are best-practices for how schools should spend money and monitor those expenditures. There are also key decisions that a board needs to understand like the difference between one-time and recurring costs and how each of those impact the expenditures differently. Lastly, this module shows some ways that a board can be actively involved in the internal control structure and provide "guardrails" for spending decisions in the district. All of these concepts can make the district Good Stewards of its finances for all of it community members.

Module Topics Include

  • Governance
  • Planning
