About the Course
Through reflection questions and course checkpoints, users will begin creating elements of a course, student development program, or learning activity that facilitates global learning. The overall goal is to increase the number of educators prepared to implement global learning across Indiana University.
Course Objectives
After completing the modules, you will be able to:
- Differentiate between concepts in global learning.
- Understand basic concepts of intercultural competencies and how those are relevant to inclusive teaching practices.
- Explain how global learning enhances student success measures, including those specific to campus, school, and field.
- Begin to evaluate how global learning can be applied to your field-specific courses.
- Reflect on your own personal, professional, and academic globally focused experience.
- Create globally focused learning outcomes for a curriculum, course, or activity.
- Facilitate relationship building, trust, and inclusivity in order to set the stage for globally-focused learning.
- Identify examples of globally focused learning activities.
- Explain different types of assessment and how they differ from evaluation.
- Be ready to integrate critical reflection into a course, including reflection checkpoints for the instructors and students.
- Identify appropriate assessment tools for the level of content.
Instructor Bio
The Global Learning for IU Educators course was created by the IU Center for the Study of Global Change and the IUI Office of International Affairs and features the work of faculty and staff across IU.
