Course Overview

In this course, based on the Indiana Academic Standards for Visual Art, you will embark on an exciting journey through time, exploring the art and artifacts of world cultures. You’ll engage in meaningful, sequential learning experiences that blend art history, criticism, aesthetics, and hands-on studio production. Through research and critical thinking, you'll uncover how art reflects and influences social, political, economic, technological, environmental, and historical developments. You'll learn to analyze and interpret artworks, make informed judgments about the nature of art, and connect what you learn to other disciplines. Throughout the course, you'll also enhance your literacy and presentation skills, explore art museums and galleries, and discover the many career paths connected to the visual arts.
